When deciding which journal to submit your new article to keep these things in mind:

Discipline relevance-does the journal reach your target audience?
Quality or impact of the journal-what is the impact factor of the journal (but do not use this as the only deciding factor)
Is it peer-reviewed (see Ulrichsweb link below in the Journal Selection Tools box)?
Prestige of the editorial team, contributors and the journal circulation
Availability- is the journal widely available (cost and distribution...the higher the cost, the less accessible)
Is it Open Access (see our guide on OA by clicking this link)?

Please be aware that some predatory journals may show up in your results. Please contact the Pratt Library if you are unsure of a journal title.

Edanz

Journal Author Name Estimator aka Jane allows the user to enter the title and/or abstract of the paper in the box, and click on 'Find journals', 'Find authors' or 'Find Articles'. Jane will then compare your document to millions of documents in PubMed to find the best matching journals, authors or articles.
Springer Nature Journal Suggester
Journal Suggester searches through 2,500 journals in the Springer Nature portfolio to match your publications abstract to appropriate journals to your subject.
Wiley's Journal Finder-Beta
Simply enter your title and abstract and Wiley Journal Finder will create a list of potential journals for the user to consider from their titles. It is also recommended to look at a journal’s Aims and Scope before deciding where to submit.
