Symplectic Elements

Mine tab

Mine tab-Steps:

  1. From the Home tab:
    1. Click on Publications in the My Summary box
      OR
    2. Click on the Manage tab then click on Publications.
  2. Review the list of scholarly activities in this tab. These items are identified as the author’s scholarly activities. If the list is correct move to the Pending tab.
  3. If these items are not the author’s the item(s) need to be rejected.Reject or Reject (Not mine) moves the item(s) in the Not mine tab.
    1. Reject choices:
      1. Click on Reject (Not Mine) to the right of the citation to reject one item at a time.  Continue until all items and pages have been reviewed.
        OR
      2. Check the boxes of specific items on the page and click Reject at the top of the list to select more than one item at a time. Continue until all items and pages have been reviewed.
        OR
      3. Check Select all on the page button and click Reject at the top of the page to reject the entire list of items on page all at one time. Continue until all items and pages have been reviewed.

Pending tab-Claim or Reject

Pending tab-Steps:

  1. From the Home tab:
    1. Click on the blue  Claim publications box the My Actions  section.
      OR
    2. Click on the plus {your number} pending then click in the My Summary section.
  2. You are now in the Pending tab.
  3. Review the list of scholarly activities in this tab. These are items identified as the author’s potential scholarly activities. These items need to be claimed or rejected.  

    Claim or Claim as mine moves the item(s) to the Mine tab. Reject or Reject as mine moves the item(s) to the Not Mine tab.

    If this list seems too large go to clear clear the Pending list just above the tabs in the blue box and then adjust My Search Settings before claiming or rejecting items in the Pending tab.If you reject all pending items rather than clear them AND some of the rejected are actually your publications you will not be able to add them into your Mine tab using the Online ID method. The reason is these items are in your Not Mine tab. Symplecitc considers them in your profile even if they are in the Not Mine tab.

    Review each item and claim or reject as needed.
     
    1. Claim or Reject choices:
      1. Click on Claim as mine or Reject (Not Mine) to the right of the citation to claim or reject one item at a time.  Continue until all items and pages have been reviewed.
        OR
      2. Check the boxes of the various items on the page and click Claim or Reject (bulk action button) at the top to select more than one item at a time.  Continue until all items and pages have been reviewed.
        OR
      3. Check the Select all on the page button and click Claim or Reject at the top of the page to claim or reject the entire page all at one time.   Continue until all items and pages have been reviewed.

Not Mine tab

Not Mine tab-Steps

  1. From the Home tab::
    1. Click on Publications in the My Summary box.
      OR
    2. Click on the Menu tab then click on Publications.
  2. Click on the Not Mine tab.
  3. The Not Mine tab includes anything that the author or delegate rejected from the Pending tab. Only review this list if the author or delegate accidentally rejected a scholarly activity. Claim or Claim as mine moves the item(s) to the Mine tab.
     
    1. Claim choices:
      1. Click on Claim as mine to the right of the citation to claim one item at a time. Continue until all items and pages have been reviewed.
        OR
      2. Check the boxes of the various items on the page and click Claim or at the top to select more than one item at a time. Continue until all items and pages have been reviewed.
        OR
      3. Check the Select all on the page button and click Claim at the top of the page to claim the entire page all at one time. Continue until all items and pages have been reviewed.

Claim or Reject Pending Publications

Turn on searches

If Symplectic Elements users are in or move into a role where they wil publish OR a person is in the system but their searches are tunred off, you can turn on the search function.

  1. Log in and go to Impersonate the user.
  2. Go to Menu tab-My Account-Name-based search.
  3. Scroll down to Source-specific name-based search terms and check all of the boxes under Search by name.
  4. Select Save at the bottom right of the page.
  5. Adjust the person's Search settings and check Automatic claiming as described in the box to the below.
  6. Go back the Name-based search under the Menu tab and click Run.

The user will now have automated searches for publications performed and emails alerting them to any potential new publications.

Filters

Filters allow the users to pinpoint publications or narrow them down according to the options below:

  • Relationship type-Limit search by Author, Editor, Translator of or Contributor to.
  • Title-Search for words in the title of a publication.
  • Publication type-Limit search by type e.g. Book, Chapter, Conference.
  • Reporting date from-Set specific beginning date to search for a publication.
  • Reporting date to-Set specific end date to search for a publication.
  • Label-Search a word or other type of label (e.g. MeSH heading). Labels are based on ontology (categories or categories) supplied by several sources- e.g. Medical Subject Headings found in PubMed.
  • SHERPA RoMEO colour-Limit by none, red, green, blue, yellow or gray.
  • Acceptance date-Search by the date a publication was accepted (can be in proof stage and not necessarily released in a fully edited state)
  • Publication date-Search by the official date of publication (fully edited)
  • Author count-Search the number of authors by choosing 5 or more, 10 or more, 20 or more or 50 or more.
