Responsible Use of NCBI/PubMed Data

Cincinnati Children’s Building S is currently experiencing a shutdown of access to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), including PubMed, and are receiving an error which includes the following language:

It could be something as simple as a run away script or learning how to better use E-utilities, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK25497/, for more efficient work such that your work does not impact the ability of other researchers to also use our site. To restore access and understand how to better interact with our site to avoid this in the future, please have your system administrator contact info@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.

We are currently working with NCBI and IS to resolve this outage.

While NCBI encourages the use and analysis of its data, please take time to familiarize yourself with best practices in these efforts by utilizing the NCBI Large Data Download Best Practices, as well as A General Introduction to the E-utilities as noted in the error message above. Adhering to guidelines will ensure we can both conduct Research responsibly and continue our community’s consistent access to this significant resource.
